The UT PREP Summer STEM Pathway (UT PREP 1) is a rigorous 5-week academic enrichment program designed for rising 7th and 8th graders. Students delve into advanced concepts in logic, mathematical problem-solving, and engineering. The curriculum includes hands-on activities in electrical engineering and robotics, fostering a strong foundation in computer science and mathematics. Participants will master applications of math and computer science through inquiry-based learning, explore UT Austin's labs and facilities, including Gregory Gym, and engage with career speakers to learn about various STEM fields. The program aims to build confidence, critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills, preparing students for advanced high school courses and future STEM careers. Students are mentored by UTeach Master and preservice teachers, K-12 educators, and UT students, faculty, and staff.
UT PREP students arrive on campus by 8:30 a.m. and take four courses each day, which include Logic, Mathematical Problem Solving, Electrical Engineering/Robotics, and College & Career Awareness. Each week, students also participate in sports/games, interact with career speakers, and explore labs and other UT facilities.
